What We Collect

• Email address — when you request a sign-in link. No password is ever stored.
• Session token — a short-lived token stored in your browser to keep you signed in.
• Bead cord progress — the IDs of tellings you have heard, stored against your account so your cord follows you across devices.
• Service protection data — short-lived request records used for rate limiting (one telling at a time, no bulk access). These are not linked to your identity and are not retained.

What We Do Not Collect

Jelikan does not collect your name, location, payment information, or any demographic data. We do not run analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or third-party pixels. We do not build profiles or sell data.

Why We Use It

• Sign-in and bead cord sync — to provide the account service you requested.
• Rate limiting and abuse prevention — our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and the tellings protected.

Infrastructure and Processors

Jelikan is hosted on Render (application server) and Supabase (database and authentication). Your email address and bead cord data are stored in Supabase. Magic-link sign-in emails are sent via Supabase Auth using its configured email provider. These providers process data on our behalf under their own data processing agreements.

No AI provider processes your data. The tellings are pre-authored and served directly — no user input is sent to a language model.

Retention

• Bead cord progress and your email address are retained until you request deletion by contacting hello@jelikan.com.
• Session tokens expire after 7 days or when you leave the circle (sign out).
• Rate-limit records are ephemeral and cleared automatically.
• Guest progress (tellings heard without signing in) is stored only in your browser and is removed when you clear browser storage.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data at any time by contacting hello@jelikan.com. You may also complain to the data protection authority in your country of residence. For UK residents, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Browser Storage and Cookies

Jelikan uses browser storage to track guest progress and preferences. When signed in, a session cookie is set to keep you authenticated. No advertising or analytics cookies are used.

Jelikan is also a Progressive Web App — if you install it, your browser may cache the app shell and icons for offline use. This cache contains no personal data.

Changes

Material changes to this notice will be reflected in a new version date. We will not retroactively change the basis on which we hold data already collected.
