Terms

Jelikan  |  Version 2026-06-13

These terms govern your use of Jelikan, operated by Kay Adeoba. Contact: hello@jelikan.com.

The Service

Jelikan presents original griot-voiced tellings drawn from the Structured Conflict Atlas — 244 African conflicts carried as literary works of oral tradition. The service lets visitors read each telling one at a time, tracks a personal bead cord of heard stories, and offers optional sign-in so that bead cord persists across devices.

The Tellings

Every telling on Jelikan is original literary work authored by Kay Adeoba. The tellings are not AI-generated summaries; they are crafted narratives in the griot voice. All rights are reserved. You may share a link to any telling; you may not reproduce, copy, or redistribute the text of the tellings without written permission.

Accounts

Sensitive Histories

Some tellings cover histories of atrocity or mass harm. These are included as an act of remembrance, not entertainment. They are marked sensitive and accessible only through deliberate navigation, never surfaced at random. Please approach them accordingly.

Your Conduct

You agree not to scrape, bulk-download, or reproduce the tellings; not to attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls; and not to use the service in any way that harms others or violates applicable law.

Availability and Changes

Jelikan may change, pause, or retire features at any time. Material changes to these terms will be dated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

Disclaimer

The tellings are literary works offered as cultural memory, not historical scholarship. Verify specific facts against primary sources before relying on them. The service is provided as-is with no warranty of availability or fitness for any particular purpose.

Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Notice.
